Job description

Overview
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking an intern to support International Advocacy Department initiatives, activities, and priorities. The Intern will broadly assist members of the International Department, supporting the department's policy team and advocacy efforts.
Department Description:
PhRMA's International department coordinates and supports advocacy around the world, while working closely with other national and regional trade associations. The international advocacy program focuses on:

  • Government pricing and reimbursement policies
  • Strengthening intellectual property protection
  • Regulatory reform
  • Expanding information to patients in priority countries around the world
  • Global health and pandemic preparedness
This is a paid position. This internship will run from September 14th through December 11th, 2026, and the intern will work up to 37.5 hours per week for a 3-month term.
Responsibilities
The Intern's responsibilities may include:
  • Measuring access to new medicines and vaccines, and pharmaceutical R&D trends across multiple countries.
  • Researching pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement policies.
  • Quantifying the impact of various cost-containment policies around the world.
  • Researching global health policies and multilateral initiatives with private sector implications.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current or recent graduate or undergraduate student with an interest in health/life sciences policy.
  • Experience or interest in quantitative methods, such as statistics, biostatistics, economics, or econometrics.
  • Experience in statistical software or programming languages, such as SQL, SAS, Stata, R, Python, etc., as well as the ability to write basic formulas in Microsoft Excel.
  • The ability to synthesize data and apply it to policy development.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Curiosity about current pharmaceutical industry trends, international health systems, and/or analytic methods.
  • Experience and interest in pharmaceutical industry initiatives in global public health policy, including in multilateral organizations.
Potential Salary
  • $25 - $35 per hour based on the level of the degree program.
