Department: Healthcare Services - Health & Wellness Division

Reports To: Fitness Center Manager

Position Summary

The Health & Wellness Coach (Fitness Trainer) designs and delivers group wellness programs that promote healthier lifestyles through movement, education, coaching, and preventive health practices.

This role combines exercise science, behavior change coaching, and holistic wellness principles to improve overall health outcomes. Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, the coach supports initiatives focused on physical fitness, nutrition awareness, stress management, resilience, injury prevention, and long-term lifestyle improvement.

As a Health & Wellness Coach (Fitness Trainer), you will serve as a trusted wellness professional who empowers individuals to achieve healthier, more fulfilling lives. Working alongside healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams, you will help clients improve their physical health while supporting their emotional resilience, stress management, and long-term wellness goals.

Whether supporting military personnel, veterans, government agencies, corporate employees, or community wellness initiatives, your impact will extend far beyond the fitness floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person/virtual fitness group wellness classes such as Cross Training, and other cardio-based, resistance-based, and multi-modality type fitness classes.
  • Support fitness events and programs such as bi-annual fun runs, fitness presentations, and directorate outreach efforts to promote the Fitness Center.
  • Assist the Fitness Manager with facility operations, fitness programs, and other administrative tasks assigned by the Fitness Manager.
  • Educate participants on exercise, healthy habits, recovery, injury prevention, and wellness best practices.
  • Perform assigned duties independently during scheduled shifts, including periods when the Fitness Center Manager is not present, while adhering to established policies, procedures, and exercising sound judgment.
  • Encourage sustainable lifestyle changes through motivation, and accountability.
  • Promote workplace wellness, preventive health, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with new membership onboarding by conducting bi-weekly Fitness Center safety orientations, answer questions about facility access and use, and file membership documentation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records.
  • Ensure fitness areas remain safe, clean, and compliant.
  • Return exercise equipment such as dumbbells, barbells, and barbell plates back to their original storage locations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming exercise facility by conducting periodic walk throughs. At least twice per day, inspect the Fitness Center bathroom/shower areas for cleanliness and safety.
  • At least once per day, wipe down all hand/skin touched surfaces, such as handrails, hand holds, weight benches, locker room benches, mirrors, etc. with an EPA registered disinfectant.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for the Company and our mission.

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday/11:00am-7:30p.m PST

Qualifications

  • AA, BA, or BS in exercise science or other health/fitness-related field, or a professional certification from a nationally recognized health/fitness organization (comparable to ACSM exercise leader certification is preferred).
  • BLS Certification must be obtained prior to start date.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and Drug Screening.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
