Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

Seize a unique opportunity to join a team advancing cutting-edge ceramic matrix composite (CMC) products and technology. In this critical role, you will be a key member of the Facilities and Maintenance team. The E&I Maintenance Technician in an aerospace environment is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation of production, test, and facility equipment. This includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and repair of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems supporting aerospace manufacturing, furnace operations and efficient operations and troubleshooting of plant equipment and facilities.

Individuals selected for this internship will have the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks

What you'll do

As an E&I Maintenance Technician, you will support a wide range of production and facility equipment with a strong focus onelectrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and overall equipment reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service.
  • High School Diploma/GEDfrom an accredited school or institution, or Technical diploma, associate degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent certificationin Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field

  • Minimum5 years of industrial E&I maintenance experiencein manufacturing, processing, utilities, laboratory, or similar industrial environments

  • Must have strong electrical, instrumentation and related calibration skills for field devices and control loops.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain requiredsecurity clearance

Key Responsibilities:

Instrumentation & Controls

  • Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation includingtemperature, pressure, vacuum, flow, pH, and gas detection devices

  • Troubleshoot and repairprocess instrumentation, electrical systems, and related manufacturing equipment

  • Install and supportinstrumentation devices, field wiring, and control system components

  • Assist withDAQ systems, PLC-based controls, PC-based control systems, and field I/O

  • Diagnose faults using tools such asmultimeters, loop calibrators, and other electrical/instrumentation test equipment

  • Read and interpretelectrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, PLC I/O lists, and equipment manuals

General Maintenance

  • Perform maintenance onproduction equipment, furnaces, utilities, and facility systems

  • Install, replace, and repair components such asmotors, pumps, drives, belts, filters, gears, chains, and valves

  • Troubleshoot and repairmechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electricalissues

  • Support equipment installation activities, includingutility hookups, alignment, and leveling

  • Apply cross-functional maintenance skills to help keep operations running smoothly

Reliability, Root Cause & Continuous Improvement

  • Help identify and eliminate equipment issues to improveuptime, reliability, and process performance

  • Participate inRoot Cause Analysis (RCA)andProcess Hazard Analysis (PHA)efforts

  • Partner withoperators, engineers, process owners, and maintenance teammatesto solve problems quickly and effectively

  • Recommend improvements to instrumentation, maintenance practices, and equipment performance

  • Respond to issues with urgency to minimize production downtime

Documentation & Asset Management

  • Accurately document maintenance work; Complete work orders, calibration records, maintenance history, and required paperwork on time

  • Maintain clear, organized records of repairs, inspections, and completed maintenance activities

Safety, Compliance & Work Environment

  • Follow allEnvironmental, Health & Safety (EHS)requirements, includingLOTO, permits, and risk assessments

  • Work in compliance with applicableelectrical codes, aerospace quality requirements, and site procedures

  • Safely work in an industrial environment that may includenoise, heights, confined spaces, and varying shifts

  • Support contractor activity as needed, including permits, technical guidance, and equipment isolation

  • Complete all required company, regulatory, and site-specific training

  • Support overtime and weekend coverage when needed to meet business demands

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working inaerospace advanced manufacturing, thermal processing, or highly regulated industrial environments

  • Familiarity withPLC/DCS systems, VFDs, DAQ systems, and industrial control systems

  • Experience supportingfurnaces, process equipment, or utility systems

  • Working knowledge ofAS9100/AS9110, calibration practices, and quality system requirements

  • A strongtroubleshooterwho can analyze issues and take action
