Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mold Maker helps to support manufacturing of plastic injection molding. Individual determines the plan to process, fabricate, purchase standard components, finish fit, shut off, and assemble precision injection molds that meet all customer expectations and are at or under established cost targets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspects all shut-off areas and critical dimensions from their work, and documents readings per ISO standards.
  • Utilizes CAD/CAM data to efficiently process details and sequences.
  • Sets up and operates machines (i.e., CNC Mills, Surface Grinders, and EDM’s).
  • Assembles and finish fits all shutoffs using appropriate tools with direction from Tooling Engineer.
  • Responsible for completing purchase requisitions for specific cutters, materials, and maintenance items needed to perform job function.
  • This job description indicates the general nature and level of work, duties and responsibilities expected of the incumbent. The incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as required. The job description may be changed if needed as determined by the Company.
  • Organize and lead the building of molds and fixtures
  • Review designs for manufacturability
  • Keep good records and files during tool builds
  • Work with and train apprentices
  • Complete tools in the quoted number of hours
  • Utilize six-sigma quality tools, when appropriate, to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes and outcomes.
  • Responsible to maintain & support processes, procedures & K.P.I.’s owned by your position.
  • Review of all procedures related to your job per “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”
  • Completion within time stated of all training required by Job Description in “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good math skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good computer skills, especially ability to navigate through Windows

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of Mold Building experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, tool drawings, and fully utilize Master Cam software is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team is required.
  • 3D CAM experience
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit or stand as needed.
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques required.
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
  • Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
