Job description

Position Summary

The Production Planner supports production scheduling and work order execution across our sheet metal forming and CNC machining operations, while also assisting with document control within our AS9100D-certified quality system. The incumbent will work cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, quality, procurement, and shop floor supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Planning (~70%)

  • Assistinmaintainingand adjusting production schedules across multiple work centers based on customer demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Release work orders and generate travelers/routers from ERP master data (Infor VISUAL), ensuringaccuraterouting sequences and BOM structure, under the guidance of senior planners.
  • Maintainaccurateplanning data including work order status, routing steps, lead times, and due dates.
  • Help track andexpediteoutside processing (heat treat, anodize, NDT) and raw material lead times to support on-time delivery.
  • Support on-time delivery (OTD) reporting and schedule status updates for customer programs.
  • Participate in program reviews, gaining exposure to schedule risk assessment and recovery planning.

Document Control (~30%)

  • Maintain controlled documents (routers, work instructions, drawings)in accordance withAS9100D requirements.
  • Process document revisions, approvals, and distribution; retire and archive obsolete documents.
  • Support internal and customer audits by ensuring documentation is current,accurate, and traceable.
  • Maintaindocument numbering conventions and filing structures across engineering and quality records.
  • Assistwith configuration control activities, including tracking engineering change notices and updating affected documentation.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s orBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 0-2 years of experience ina manufacturing, production planning, or document control support role; internships and co-ops count, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Experience or coursework in the aerospace, defense, or another regulated industry (medical device, automotive Tier 1) is a plus
  • Exposure to AS9100D, or similar quality management systems is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiencyin Excel (basic formulas, lookups) and general comfort learning ERP/database systems; exposure to Infor VISUAL, SAP, Epicor, or IFS is a plus.
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings and understand fundamental manufacturing terminology (CNC milling/turning, press brake forming, deburr, inspection).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination with engineering, quality, and shop floor personnel.
  • Willingness to learn AS9100D quality system requirements as they relate to planning and document control.
  • Interestin aerospace manufacturing, CNC machining, or sheet metal forming processes.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
