Job description

Athena Engineering, Inc.'s internship offers the ambitious student an opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to a real world construction environment.
Internships are paid and available to college students majoring in construction, engineering, or software - related majors, including: construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer software programming.
As an Athena Engineering, Inc. intern you will be mentored by a Business Development Associate, Director of Engineering, Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager, who will guide and supervise you in accomplishing your responsibilities and training. You will be exposed to the Athena Engineering style of business while receiving a hands-on introduction to the world of general contruction, mechanical system design and integration, and building automation design and integration.
Each internship is unique and geared toward the particular strengths of the intern. The experience you gain will depend on the department you report to, the project you are assigned to, and the phase at which you enter the project. There are limitless opportunities for our interns!
Internships last from three to six months and are open to students that have completed their second year of college-level courses.
As an intern, you will learn and practice the following:
  • Construction Management, Mechanical HVAC and Building Automation Controls Fundamentals
  • Project estimating, quantity take-offs, supplier/subcontractor communications (Business Development Interns Only)
  • Client development, community outreach, project marketing (Business Development Interns Only)
  • Request for Information
  • Document Control
  • Subcontractor Coordination
  • Progress Meetings
  • Safety Meetings
  • Billing Procedures
  • Submittal & Shop Drawing Review
  • Controls Design
  • Software Programming (BAS Interns Only)
  • Network Integration (BAS Interns Only)

Attendance at various meetings, ranging from monthly safety meetings to staff meetings and jobsite tours, is required. As a result, a set schedule must be developed between you and your manager that includes at least 20 hours a week of dedicated time for your internship.
We very often look to our intern pool for prospective employees, but an internship is not a guarantee of employment.
