Essential Duties
  • Supports the goals of the CSPD Center by building relationships on campus and within the community
  • Provides leadership and assists the director in the development and implementation of a viable internship program
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and administration to create policy and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships
  • Arranges meetings with faculty and academic department chairs to identify and promote relevant internships for specific major
  • Conducts site visits to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships for students.
  • Secures internship positions by working with local area and state-wide businesses.
  • Plans and conducts internships workshops and information programs
  • Assists director in the development of employer relations through verbal and written communications and membership in professional organizations
  • Develops and facilitates workshops dealing with job search, networking, resume writing, professionalism, and other career readiness competencies
  • Critiques resumes, cover letters, and employment applications for students
  • Counsels and advises students regarding employment opportunities through various employers
  • Advises students on a walk-in basis
  • Assists director in coordinating special events throughout the year
  • Assists in marketing the services and programs of the CSPD Center through developing appropriate materials as well as advertising special events
  • Oversees production of program materials and informational publications, such as the quarterly Wise Owl newsletter
  • Trains on campus supervisors to help students with career readiness and how they can mentor students for greater success in their first job upon graduation
  • Develops and maintains resources on CSPD Center website and Canvas modules.
  • Creates online guides and programming on how to improve Handshake profiles and fully utilize Handshake platform
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for Handshake platform
  • Works with other CSPD Center Staff to maintain current social media content
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the director

Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's degree (emphasis in student affairs, marketing, human resource management, or related field) preferred, seasoned professional knowledge equivalent to a master's degree required
  • Three to five years of experience in a business office or higher educational setting

Other skills and abilities:
  • Ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, and businesses
  • Familiarity with corporate and nonprofit human resource management
  • Understanding of experiential education and career advising
  • Experience in presentation of workshops or public speaking
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team

Other qualifications:
  • Prior knowledge of Canvas and Handshake platforms preferred
  • Experience using Canva for marketing purposes preferred
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Job Description Summary
The Internship Coordinator will connect and build relationships with businesses, students, faculty, staff, and alumni, provide career training for students through courses, workshops, and seminars to include a mandatory "boot camp" for all preferred internships. Additionally, Career Services and Professional Development Center (CSPD) staff will offer training for campus supervisors of student workers that will help create impactful experiences, enhance career readiness, and provide mentorship for students to have greater success in their first job upon graduation.
