The Ignite Internship Program is an 11-week, full-time experience that offers a sneak peek into the world of insurance. Level up your skills and knowledge by diving into your business area of choice.

Throughout the program, you'll get a feel for the corporate environment with on-the-job assignments, team projects, exposure to senior leadership & executives, and even a community volunteer day. All of this and more will help you build meaningful relationships throughout the organization.

The Enterprise Risk Management and Reinsurance team at Selective Insurance is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the company's financial stability and operations. They develop strategies to manage these risks and ensure the company is adequately protected through reinsurance arrangements. An internship in this team offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in risk assessment and strategic planning.


Responsibilities
  • Support the Reinsurance and Reinsurance Accounting teams in identifying, evaluating, and reporting on legacy treaty commutations.
  • Assist in reorganizing, documenting, and mapping the internal shared drive structure.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving departmental and organizational goals.
  • Communicate facts, analyses, and recommendations effectively through both written and verbal communications.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Must be a current college student pursuing a degree in accounting to qualify (Class of 2028 preferred).
  • Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
  • Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred but not required.
  • College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required. Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

USD $22.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
