Job description

Job Title: Specialist - Import Export
Company: AISIN World Corp. of America
Department: OE Sales - FTA Group
Location: Northville, MI
Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining import and export activities across AISIN North America operations.
This role ensures the accurate processing, monitoring, and documentation of customs transactions while maintaining compliance with all applicable trade regulations.
The position provides operational and analytical support to ensure the integrity of customs entries, broker activities, regulatory documentation, and reporting related to international trade operations.
This specialist will collaborate with internal departments, customs brokers, and logistics providers to ensure accurate customs filings, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of import/export processes.
Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
  • Maintain Accounts Payable and month-end closing data
  • Support daily import and export operations to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and AISIN internal policies.
  • Review and validate customs broker entries, documentation, and billing to ensure accuracy of tariff classification, valuation, and duty calculations.
  • Process and monitor Import Security Filings (ISF), customs clearance entries, and maintain accurate records of import transactions.
  • Maintain and manage import/export documentation and databases to ensure regulatory traceability and recordkeeping compliance.
  • Assist with drawback, protest filings, and other customs recovery programs by compiling supporting documentation and coordinating with customs brokers.
  • Analyze customs data and entry records to identify discrepancies, trends, or potential compliance risks.
  • Generate reports and support management with data related to customs entries, duties, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, logistics providers, and internal departments to ensure accurate and timely customs processing.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and maintaining proper compliance records.
  • Maintain and update internal procedures and documentation related to customs compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives related to customs operations, reporting, and compliance processes.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and trade compliance requirements affecting AISIN operations.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Continuous process improvements.

Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in logistics, international trade, or customs brokerage related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret customs documentation and broker entries.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Experience with customs brokerage operations or import/export compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of USMCA.
  • Experience working with drawback or duty recovery programs.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle.
  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry.

Education/Training/Certifications
  • High School diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 10 %.
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
