Depending on the ebb and flow of the university &/or the HR department's needs, you might find yourself immersed in a variety of project work or routine tasks or helping creating training materials, each one an opportunity to showcase your versatility, impact & skill set you've already built. We're looking for someone serious about a career in HR or a related field. Someone who puts details & accuracy above all else, while being able to provide clear guidance on the hiring process. Clarifying aspects for other departments & asking investigative questions to ensure your understanding of the department's needs as well as to carry out HR tasks.
The hours can be flexible based on your class schedule, but you must have the ability to work at least 15 hours/week with a max of 20 hours/week, within our regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM).
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Data entry & data verification related to job reqs, background checks, work authorizations.
Provide customer service to newly hired employees at the university & to various departments across campus.
Review policy & procedures for daily tasks completion.
Potentially create & collaborate on training materials, university resources on hiring, attend career fairs & etc.
Maintain confidentiality related to hiring & employment records.
Be a vital member of the HR team to support daily operations to the university.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hrs/week
Willing to hire undergraduate or graduate students at WSU.
Applicants being considered from degree programs in Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Business, or a closely related field.
Required Experience
This is specific to each position and department. See additional requirements and/or preferences.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
