Job description

Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Remote Sensing Technician to join our dynamic Geospatial Team. This position is responsible for sensor operation, data processing, and reporting for airbornemapping missions. This position requires both domestic and international travel. This is an entry-level position where dedicated individuals with critical thinking and problem-solving skills have the opportunity to excel. 

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.  Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

*MUST be able to travel 30-60 Days at a time for project assignment purposes both domestic and international travel required* 

What You Will Do:

  • Download, process, edit, and troubleshoot collected sensor data while in the field.
  • Set up and operate ground GPS base stations and flight planning.
  • Sensor and Equipment Maintenance: Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sensor equipment on the ground and in flight.
  • Ensure safe and secure use of company equipment.
  • Reporting: Complete field logs as required. 

What You Will Bring:

  • Desire to learn and be involved in a dynamic operational team.
  • Understanding of computer hardware.
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Must have valid U.S. passport and be willing to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as necessary
  • Willingness and ability to undergo pre-employment verification and drug screening.
  • Willingness and ability to work a rotational schedule from 30 to 90 days travel with 20 or more days off.
  • Land Survey experience is a plus.
  • High School Diploma and/or G.E.D. and/or related experience, such as:
  • Data Acquisition & Processing: Participate in ground and flight operations efforts as needed, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, communications, and safety.
  • Ensuring proper collection of data for accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with bathymetric or hydrographic data is a plus
  • Experience with the following: Leica LSS, MisssionPro, MicroStation, ArcGIS, Qimera, and Global Mapper, QINSy, HYPACK, Edgetech Discover, TerraSolid, and SonarWiz.
  • Strong working knowledge of geomatics and mapping concepts (academic and/or professional)
  • Working knowledge of aerial acquisition systems preferred
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals.
  • Previous Land Surveying experience a plus.
