Who We Are:

We are a newly independent wealth management firm, with approximately $500 million in revenue, recently carved out from a larger parent company and acquired by a leading private equity sponsor. With a strong foundation of client relationships, acquisitions, and growth potential, we are in the process of standing up new systems, processes, and controls to support our next phase of expansion. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the tax infrastructure of a high-growth platform from the ground up.

The HRIS & Reporting Specialist serves as the functional owner and subject matter expert for the organization's Workday platform, responsible for optimizing system configuration, reporting, security, and data governance across the HR function. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, Corporate IT, and business leaders to deliver scalable Workday solutions that support HR operations, workforce planning, compliance, and strategic decision-making. The position leads Workday configuration, release management, reporting and analytics, testing, security administration, and continuous process improvement while ensuring data integrity and an exceptional employee experience. The ideal candidate combines deep Workday expertise with a proactive, customer-focused mindset and a passion for leveraging technology to drive operational excellence and business outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Own Workday Functional Architecture & Configuration

  • Serve as subject matter expert across all Workday modules including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Talent, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Reporting.
  • Architect and configure business processes, security roles, condition rules, notifications, calculated fields, and validation controls.
  • Lead the documentation of business requirements and articulate end-to-end functional process design for enhancements and new initiatives.
  • Provide thought leadership on system capabilities, including a clear understanding of delivered functionality and configuration limitations.
  • Partner with Corporate IT and external vendors on integrations, defining functional requirements and leading testing validation.

Lead Release Management, Testing & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain awareness of Workday's product roadmap and upcoming releases; assess impact to current configuration and proactively plan enhancements.
  • Own release governance including regression testing, unit testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and pre-launch validation.
  • Create and execute detailed test scripts across development and production environments.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through automation and system optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with scalability and operational excellence.

Design Advanced Reporting & Workforce Analytics

  • Build and maintain sophisticated dashboards and reports that support executive decision-making, workforce planning, compensation cycles, compliance reporting, and operational metrics.
  • Develop advanced calculated fields and custom reporting solutions.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy through routine audits and validation controls.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define dashboard needs and enable self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for business leaders.

Establish Security & Data Governance Standards

  • Own Workday security configuration, role-based access controls, and periodic security audits.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards (PII, GDPR, SOX as applicable).
  • Maintain strong data governance protocols including routine data audits and quality assurance reviews.
  • Serve as an escalation point for system issues while exercising discretion with highly confidential employee information.

Support HR Operations & Employee Experience

  • Enable compensation cycles, open enrollment, organizational changes, and global workforce transactions within Workday.
  • Support mass data processing activities (EIB loads, restructures, large-scale updates).
  • Develop SOPs, documentation, FAQs, and quick reference guides to support user adoption.
  • Provide training and change management support when rolling out new functionality.
  • Foster a customer-centric mindset by delivering timely, accurate system support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with Workday functional configuration across multiple HCM modules.
  • Experience with Workday security configuration, business process framework (BPF) management, reporting architecture, and overall system administration.
  • Proven experience managing Workday release cycles, including regression testing, unit testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Advanced Workday reporting expertise, including calculated fields, dashboards, and report development.
  • Experience performing mass data uploads using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) and troubleshooting Workday system issues.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations, HR processes, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting multi-country employee populations (U.S., U.K., and Canada) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
