Senior Systems Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Level 5) to join the System Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Team in Saint Charles, MO.
Boeing Phantom Works is building the next generation of force-multiplying aircraft, and we're looking for enthusiastic systems engineers to join us on that journey. As part of our team you'll work closely with other Phantom Works entities and industry partners to help design, integrate, and field architectures and vehicle designs to keep our country on the leading edge of defense technologies.

Position Responsibilities
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Implements analysis and modeling in MSoSA/Cameo or similar.
  • Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Provides coaching and training in MSoSA (or similar) to early career Systems Engineers.
  • Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Leads analyses that may include affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 6+ years of systems engineering experience
  • Experience in system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification, and validation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Demonstrated experience developing system architectures for complex aerospace vehicles or subsystems using MBSE (SysML/MSOSA)
  • Demonstrated experience developing system architectures utilizing modular design
  • Demonstrated experience leading/contributing to system engineering technical reviews
  • Prior leadership in system architecture or lead systems engineering roles; experience communicating architectural tradeoffs to stakeholders and customers
  • Understanding of various engineering analyses, including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
  • Familiarity with aircraft/flight systems and domain-specific engineering (ME, EE, SW) to evaluate integration impacts.
