Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center is looking for a Manager of Customer Relations to help lead daily operations and support the teams that keep our hospital running. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems in real time, and helping create a positive experience for both clients and staff.
At the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center, we provide specialized medical and surgical care for companion and large animals across Iowa and the surrounding region. Our teams of clinicians, residents, interns, technicians, staff, and students work together around the clock to provide the highest level of care.
In this role, you will oversee a team of veterinary teaching hospital assistants, help coordinate staffing and scheduling, support employee development, and work closely with clinicians and hospital leadership to keep things running smoothly. No two days are exactly the same, and you will play an important part in supporting both people and operations in a busy teaching hospital environment.
What You'll Do
  • Supervise, schedule, and support Veterinary Teaching Hospital Assistant teams to ensure consistent staffing coverage across hospital services
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff, including onboarding, performance management, and ongoing development
  • Partner with hospital leadership, clinicians, faculty, and staff to support daily operations, communication, and service delivery
  • Oversee hospital scheduling processes and systems to support efficient coordination across service areas
  • Address and resolve client concerns, serving as a liaison between clients, clinicians, and staff to support a high quality service experience

Additional Details
  • Hours: Swing shift, 1:00PM - 10:00PM.
  • Flexibility is required to adjust hours for morning meetings, trainings, and operational needs.
  • Some evening, weekend, and holiday coverage is required to support 24 hour hospital operations.
  • This is an on site position within a veterinary teaching hospital.
  • Role includes direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Work environment includes interaction with clinical areas and animal patients.

About the Department
The Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center, part of Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, is a full service teaching hospital offering advanced diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for small and large animals while supporting the education and training of future veterinarians.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience scheduling staff across multiple shifts or service areas.
  • Supervisory experience, including responsibility for staff oversight.
  • Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience performing accounting, financial tracking, or billing-related tasks.
  • Experience working in a high-level customer service role with responsibility for resolving complex issues.
