ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE
As an end-to-end responsive space transportation company, Firefly Aerospace is on a mission to enable our world to launch, land, and operate in space - anywhere, anytime. Our launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles provide government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the surface of the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in North Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.
SUMMARY
Firefly has year-round Aerospace Software Engineering internship opportunities for our Hive location in Cedar Park, Texas. Both current undergraduates and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the design, simulation, and testing of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for launch vehicles and spacecraft
  • Advance the state-of-the-art of Firefly simulation capabilities
  • Improve the reliability and robustness of GNC verification and validation testing
  • Enhance automation tools used for mission design and post-flight processing
  • Advance the state-of-the-art of Firefly tools and software for trajectory design, maneuver planning, and orbit determination

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Enrollment or a recent graduation in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program with a focus on Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field at an accredited four-year university or college
  • Experience developing software simulations or algorithms relevant to atmospheric or orbital flight
  • Familiarity with dynamics, orbital mechanics, control systems, and estimation

Desired
  • Participation in a relevant extracurricular university club or laboratory
  • Experience with software development in C/C++ or Python
  • Experience with version control
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems
