Position Description:

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Center Assistants (Tutors) to join our team at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Riverside - Hawarden Hills. The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children and a strong commitment to supporting their educational development. As a Center Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students, particularly early learners, achieve their academic goals through the Kumon Method.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Early Learners: Work closely with young students to help them build foundational skills in reading and math through the Kumon Method.
  • Grade and Prepare Assignments: Grade and prepare student classwork and homework assignments accurately, providing feedback to help students improve.
  • Adhere to the Kumon Method: Support students in adhering to the Kumon Method and center procedures, ensuring consistency in their learning journey.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Exemplify strong customer service to provide an excellent experience for students and parents.
  • Enrollment Assistance: Assist with the enrollment process to provide parents and students with a strong start at the center.
  • Student Feedback and Progress Communication: Provide feedback to students and communicate their progress to parents and the Instructor as needed.
  • Manage Student Check-In/Out: Assist with the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a smooth and organized experience for students and parents.
  • General Support: Assist with other tasks as needed to ensure the effective operation of the center.

Candidate Profile:

  • Passion for Education: A genuine interest in helping children succeed academically.
  • Proficient in High School Math and/or English: Strong understanding of high school-level math and/or English concepts is essential for supporting students.
  • Dependability: Reliable, punctual, and committed to working the designated hours.
  • Willingness to Learn: Open to learning and applying the Kumon Method, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and build strong relationships within the center.
  • Love of Learning: A passion for learning and helping others develop a similar enthusiasm.

Qualifications:

  • Must be over the age of 16 years old.
  • Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a valid work permit.
  • Availability to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM, with occasional weekend shifts.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and perform various tasks within the Center as assigned.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check (applicants 18 and over).
  • Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is a plus, but not required.
