Job description

We are a specialized general contractor and construction management firm specializing in high-rise and mid-rise residential development across New York City. We manage complex, vertical projects from the ground up, ensuring every phase of the building process meets the highest standards of safety and craftsmanship.

We are currently searching for a disciplined and authoritative Site Safety Manager to join our team and lead safety operations for our New York City portfolio. We are seeking a highly disciplined and authoritative Site Safety Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance for major vertical construction projects in New York City. The primary objective of this role is to ensure a zero-incident workplace by strictly enforcing NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) regulations and OSHA standards. You will be the designated safety lead on-site, responsible for the safety of all personnel, subcontractors, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Enforcement: Maintain 100% compliance with NYC DOB Chapter 33 and OSHA 1926 standards on-site.
  • Daily Inspections: Conduct comprehensive daily safety walkthroughs to identify and mitigate hazards related to fall protection, scaffolding, hoisting, and electrical safety.
  • Incident Management: Lead the investigation of any accidents or "near-misses," identifying root causes and implementing immediate corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain the official Site Safety Manager's Log as required by the NYC DOB, ensuring all permits and safety records are up-to-date.
  • Safety Meetings: Organize and lead daily tool-box talks and safety orientations for all new site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for NYC DOB, FDNY, and OSHA inspectors during site visits and audits.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Licensing: An active NYC DOB Site Safety Manager License is mandatory for this role.
  • OSHA Training: Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • Specialized Courses: * 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course.
  • Supported/Suspended Scaffold User & Inspector certifications.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5โ€“10 years of experience in NYC high-rise construction safety.
  • Communication: Fluent in English (Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing ladders and stairs in high-rise structures.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all New York City weather conditions.
