The H-4 EAD allows certain spouses of H-1B visa holders to work legally in the U.S., including participating in internships, part-time, or full-time roles. These internships can be in various fields and are an opportunity for H-4 EAD holders to gain professional experience, build skills, and improve their resumes. Familiarity with industry-standard software or tools, such as Microsoft Office, programming languages, or sector-specific platforms, is often required. Effective communication, eagerness to learn, adaptability, and teamwork are important soft skills that help interns make a positive impact. These skills and qualifications ensure you can contribute meaningfully, comply with employment regulations, and maximize your learning opportunities during the internship.

What are common challenges faced by interns working on an H4 EAD, and how can they navigate them?

Interns working on an H4 EAD may face challenges such as clarifying their work authorization status to employers, as not all hiring managers are familiar with the H4 EAD program. They may also encounter questions about visa sponsorship needs in the future. It's helpful to be proactive in providing documentation and clear explanations regarding their eligibility to work. Building a strong professional network and seeking internships with companies experienced in hiring international candidates can also help interns navigate these challenges.
