Job description

Job Summary

We’re looking for a creative, detail-driven Visual Design & Media Intern to support our Marketing and Communication team. In this role, you’ll help bring projects to life through compelling visuals that support social media, digital and print marketing materials, video production, and internal presentations.

This isn’t a “sit back and observe” internship—you’ll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment learning how to support KLJ’s visual storytelling for the success and growth of the company.

What You’ll Do

  • Create print and digital graphics that support marketing campaigns, storytelling, and brand initiatives
  • Help bring Engineering | Reimagined to life through visuals in social media, proposals, presentations, and video
  • Assist with video production, reels, and motion graphics to showcase KLJ projects, people, and culture
  • Develop marketing materials like brochures, sell sheets, infographics, and presentations
  • Format and produce client-facing and internal materials that reinforce KLJ’s professional brand
  • Ensure all work aligns with KLJ brand standards, consistency, and visual identity
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to support recruiting, client development, and storytelling efforts
  • Prepare files for print, web, and multi-channel distribution
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions (we like ideas here… big ones, bold ones, even the “we’re not sure yet” ones)
  • Refine and evolve your work based on feedback—because growth happens fast here

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; bonus for After Effects & Premiere Pro)
  • Understanding of layout, typography, and visual storytelling fundamentals
  • A portfolio (big or small—we care more about thought process than perfection)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines (we move fast—in a good way)
  • A mindset that’s curious, coachable, and ready to learn

 Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Experience with video editing, motion graphics, or content creation
  • Exposure to interactive or digital-first design
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint or presentation design
  • Experience working with brand guidelines or marketing teams

Why This Role Stands Out at KLJ

  •  Work on real, meaningful projects that impact recruiting, client relationships, and company growth
  • Build a portfolio that goes beyond social posts—think data visualization, storytelling, and strategic design
  • Learn how design connects directly to business strategy and community impact
  • Get hands-on mentorship from experienced designers, marketers, and video professionals
  • Experience what it means to be part of a company built on being:
    • Safe – we prioritize people and quality in everything we do
    • Inclusive – every idea and perspective matters
    • Learners – growth is part of the job
    • Achievers – we take pride in our work
    • Owners – we take responsibility and drive results together [

The Bigger Picture

At KLJ, we’re more than an engineering firm, we’re problem-solvers, storytellers, and community builders.

Your work here won’t just look good—it’ll help communicate ideas that improve communities and shape the future.
