Job description

The Leidos Cargo Mission Contract (CMC) has an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level Decal Lab Technician to join our team in Webster, Texas. In this role, you will apply your fabrication and graphic design skills to support NASA's human spaceflight missions. Working alongside engineering and cargo teams, you will manufacture decals, labels, placards, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products used on flight hardware supporting the International Space Station (ISS) and future Exploration programs.

This position offers hands-on experience with fabrication equipment, printing technologies, CNC cutting systems, and industry-standard graphic design software while contributing to mission-critical hardware.

U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required. This position requires the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support the CMC Decal Operations team by fabricating decals, labels, placards, RFID tags, and related products for NASA flight hardware, engineering mockups, trainers, and other mission support activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and prepare artwork using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, NiceLabel Designer, and Zebra Designer software.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, eLabel orders, and fabrication documentation to produce compliant decal, label, placard, RFID, and graphic products.
  • Manufacture decal products using a variety of production equipment, fabrication processes, and materials from concept through final production.
  • Perform quality inspections of artwork and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering and customer requirements.
  • Execute manufacturing tasks in accordance with work authorization documents and established engineering processes.
  • Operate hand tools, powered tools, printers, CNC cutting equipment, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, equipment, and inventory.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Art, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience through coursework, internships, or professional work using Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with both powered and hand tools used in fabrication or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform thorough quality inspections.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with RFID technologies, including RFID tags, printers, readers, and label design software such as NiceLabel Designer or Zebra Designer.
  • Knowledge of UHF RFID standards, tag inlays, chip types, Electronic Product Code (EPC), and User Memory programming.
  • Experience supporting mockup fabrication or prototype development.
  • Familiarity with the CMC eLabel tool.
  • Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or laboratory environment.
