This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

  • Align and Lead: Coordinate technical strategy and execution across SBUs to meet business objectives and Collins Aerospace standards.
  • Standardize Excellence: Develop, implement, and sustain common engineering processes, tools, and best practices to improve execution efficiency and compliance.
  • Drive Technical Performance: Ensure products meet all technical, certification, and regulatory requirements through robust validation and verification in collaboration with other experts in the BUs.
  • Monitor and Improve: Track key engineering performance metrics (e.g. schedule adherence, defect rate, design quality) and implement improvements of technical projects assigned.
  • Advance Technology: Identify SBU technical gaps and emerging technologies in collaboration with the Advanced Research & Technology (ART) team; lead integration into roadmaps. 
  • Ensure Governance: Lead or participate in independent reviews, gate reviews, and design assessments to verify technical adequacy and process discipline. 
  • Develop Talent: Mentor engineers and discipline leaders, build technical capability, and close identified skill and resource gaps. 
  • Enable Strategic Planning: Identify technical priorities to be included in the Strategic Financial Plan
  • Foster Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives that improve process efficiency, product quality, and time-to-market. 
  • Engage Externally: Represent the SBU in industry, customer, and regulatory forums to shape and anticipate future product and certification needs.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. If needed, candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Career experience and demonstrated technical acumen in systems engineering, model based engineering (MBSE), agile development, DevSecOps, and AI/ML
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver measurable improvements in engineering performance. 
  • Success establishing and sustaining standardized technical processes, while measuring for continued improvement. 
  • Understanding of product lifecycle, certification, and validation/verification frameworks. 
  • Experience managing technical readiness levels and integrating emerging technologies into products. 
  • Track record of mentoring and developing technical talent. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on execution and results. 
  • Experience with development for DoD customers
