The team is seeking an experienced ARNP with a strong pediatric background and/or prior genetics experience. Ideal candidates may include experienced Genetics APPs, Pediatric Specialty APPs with genetics-related exposure, or providers with experience caring for patients with genetic and metabolic conditions, newborn screening follow-up, and rare or complex pediatric diseases.

Position Summary

The Genetics Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) delivers specialized genomic, metabolic, and genetic services for pediatric and adult patients and families. This role encompasses diagnostic assessment, genetic and metabolic testing coordination, infusion therapy administration, newborn screening follow-up, gene variant interpretation, and personalized management of inherited and metabolic conditions. Working closely with geneticists, metabolic specialists, genetic counselors, dieticians, and multidisciplinary teams, the ARNP ensures evidence-based care plans and seamless integration of precision medicine into clinical practice. The ARNP also leads program development and quality initiatives to advance health outcomes.ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient Care•Conduct comprehensive genetic and metabolic diagnostic assessments, pedigree analysis, and medical/family history reviews•Provide pre-test and post-test genetic counseling for inherited disorders, including inborn errors of metabolism •Coordinate and interpret genetic/genomic tests (panels, exome, genome) and metabolic assays (e.g., plasma amino acids, acylcarnitine profile)•Manage pharmacological, nutritional, and other therapeutic interventions, including infusion therapies for genetic and metabolic diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings•Oversee newborn screening follow-up: review results, order confirmatory testing, initiate early interventions, and counsel families on outcomes•Document genetic and metabolic encounters, infusion orders, and newborn screening plans accurately in the electronic health recordGenetic & Metabolic Program Development•Participate in developing and updating protocols for genetic and newborn screening workflows, informed consent, metabolic emergency plans, and infusion therapy•Monitor key metrics such as test turnaround time, infusion complication rates, dietary compliance, and newborn screening referral completion•Lead quality improvement projects to optimize metabolic crisis interventions, infusion therapy optimization, and patient education materialsMultidisciplinary Team Care & Leadership•Collaborate in case conferences and team meetings•Supervise and mentor genetic counseling interns, clinical trainees, nursing staff, and infusion teams on metabolic best practicesProfessional Citizenship•Embody organizational values of compassion, stewardship, collaboration, and respect•Adhere to hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, state newborn screening mandates)•Engage in departmental meetings, community outreach, newborn screening advocacy, and continuing professional developmentRequirements•Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a focus on genetics, pediatrics, or metabolic nursing•Current, unrestricted Washington State APRN license and Nurse Practitioner certification•National genetics nursing certification (e.g., ANCC Genomics Nursing Certification) certification preferred•Competency in infusion therapy protocols, infusion pump technology, and aseptic technique preferreed•Familiarity with newborn screening programs, confirmatory testing guidelines, and early intervention services preferred•Basic Life Support (BLS) required• 2 years of clinical experience in genetics, metabolic disease management, or infusion therapy preferred•Proficiency with Epic preferred•Strong analytical, diagnostic reasoning, and patient/family education skills

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $164,313.73 - $187,843.14 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
