Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP / Business Head, Cocoa Ingredients North America, the Trader, Cocoa Ingredients North America will play an instrumental role in promoting and growing ofi’s cocoa business.

The Trader, Cocoa Ingredients North America will engage with cross-functional teams across ofi to successfully execute business plans and meet customer needs.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work effectively in a team, as well as individually to promote and grow the business. They should be able to successfully analyze internal and external data and implement those learnings into a strategy. The ideal candidate should be outgoing and a strong communicator. They should be able to collaborate and think creatively about new solutions and opportunities. Ability to manage multiple competing demands in a complex and dynamic environment will be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs.
  • Support the cocoa sourcing and derivatives teams with market analysis, trade support, and commercial execution activities.
  • Monitor cocoa futures, basis, foreign exchange, and physical market developments; summarize relevant insights for the team.
  • Collaborate with logistics, operations, finance, risk, and other internal stakeholders to support smooth execution of commercial activity.
  • Plan and present reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members and stakeholders
  • Represent Cocoa North America as market expert in customer discussion and presentations.
  • Be the conduit for market knowledge transfer to Cocoa North America sales team members and business stakeholders.
  • Assist with position monitoring, exposure tracking, P&L follow-up, and preparation of internal trading or market reports.
  • Contribute to the initiation, execution, and follow-up of commodity contracts, ensuring accuracy on pricing, timing, quality, logistics, and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

•          Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Agricultural Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

•          Five years of relevant experience, including internships, thesis work, or professional experience in commodities, trading, risk, analytics, or commercial roles.

•          High integrity, resilience, ownership mindset, and comfort operating in a fast-moving and volatile environment, learns fast and brings original thinking rather than only process-following.

•          Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with confidence working with data and market information

•          Experience managing relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

•          Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

•          Ability to build trusted relationships across all levels, both internal and external.

•          Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work well with different teams and personalities.

•          Strong self-initiative with an ability to operate at a high level with minimum supervision.

•          High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

•          Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.

•          State issued driver’s license and clean driving record.

•          Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

•          Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep interest and genuine passion for markets, agricultural commodities, market dynamics, global macro or geopolitical development, competition, and commercial strategy.
  • Clear motivation to build a long-term career in the trading space.
  • Additional language skills are a plus, particularly Spanish and French.

The pay for this role ranges from $132,000 - $176,000 annually and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
