This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This position is in Blue Origin's exciting New Glenn program. As part of a robust Avionics team, you will design, develop, and verify high-performance radio frequency (RF) systems, radios and antennas for the New Glenn flight vehicle. You will engageandown efforts to develop robust RF systems that ensure reliable data transmission during all mission phases, from pre-launch testing through orbital operations. You will be integrated with our RF team and technical leadsto drive requirementsdefinition, modeling, analysis, design, test and production release of on-vehicle RF systems. In addition, you will follow avionics designs through formal verification, environmental qualification, release, and participate in flight support activities.

You will be responsiblefor developing low-cost next-generation radios for our futurelaunch vehicles.You will mentorand coach otheravionics engineers within theRF team and have ownership of design modification/implementation of team standards, processes, andplans.

MinimumQualifications:

  • BachelorofScienceinElectricalorComputerEngineering,Physics,orrelatedfield

  • 10+yearsofprovenexperienceintheRFdesignofcomplexaerospace/spacehardware

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and aspart of ateam, throughout the design, verification, qualification, and production phases of the electronic productlifecycle

  • Abilitytoearntrust,maintain positive and professionalrelationships,and contributeto our culture of inclusion.

  • Workingexperiencewithsoftwaredefinedradio(SDR)implementationsofradiotransceivers

  • Hands-onexperiencewithRFtestingequipment (VectorNetworkAnalyzers,Spectrum Analyzers, signal generators,etc)

  • WorkingexperiencewithRFPCBdesign,layout,verification,fabricationandtesting.

Inadditiontothegeneralqualificationsabove,anRFSeniorElectrical Engineer will have expertise in several of the following areas:

  • RFcommunication subsystem and/orcomponent design,withastrongbackground inRF principles;specific focus onL-band, S-band and Ka-band.

  • Performdetailhardwaredesignsforradiosystems includesoftware-definedradios,RF

front-ends,andantennas.

  • Coordinatewithtest engineerstodesignand implement performanceand environmental testing for acceptance and qualification of radio hardware.

  • Abilitytoworkwithmulti-functionalteams suchasmechanical,ground,and operations to partner for the best design implementation solutions.

  • Collaborationwithmanufacturingengineerstocreateandapproveassemblydrawings.

  • Partnership withproductionengineeringtodevelopand supportsustainingengineering plans and procedures.

  • Development,implementation,and ownershipof testprocedures,aswellasplanning and execution for all phases (development, acceptance, and qualification).

  • Experienceingroundingand generalboard layoutprinciples,including EMI/EMCtradeoffs.

PreferredQualifications:

  • MasterofScience inElectricalorComputerEngineering, Physics, orrelated subjectareas.

  • 15+years provenexperienceinRFdesign,development,integration,test,and operation of avionics systems or vehicles.

  • Backgroundwithlaunchvehiclehardwaredevelopment,integration,andtest.


Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45 CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90 WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
