Job description

Position Summary

Senior Systems Engineer – Communications Avionics

Location

Huntsville, Alabama (Onsite)

Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship required; candidate must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Support systems engineering activities in an Agile environment.
  • Translate system and software requirements into test and verification strategies.
  • Develop automated and semi‑automated test scripts using Python.
  • Verify software builds in integrated lab environments and support formal verification events.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to refine requirements and design solutions.
  • Present technical progress and status updates to Agile team members and engineering leadership.
  • Contribute to improving test development processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Assist with bids & pursuits and mentor junior engineers.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.
What You Will Learn
  • Integrate Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) software for mission sensor and weapons avionics.
  • Deepen systems engineering expertise across the aerospace systems lifecycle.
  • Explore roles such as Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Cost Account Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in Agile development teams and software requirement development.
  • Proficiency with test automation in Python.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as DOORS, PREP, TLBD, ALM, JIRA, Enterprise Architect.
  • Preferable: Experience in avionics systems (military or civil aircraft).
  • Preferable: Avionics integration, lab test, and embedded software integration experience.
  • Preferable: Knowledge of data buses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL‑STD‑1553B, ARINC‑429).
  • Preferable: Experience with Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) or surveillance equipment.
  • Preferable: Experience as Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Cost Account Manager.
