Time Commitment:

This position requires approximately 6-10 hours per week; primarily during athletic events on nights and weekends. Additional office hours and special project opportunities may be available based on performance and departmental needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sabre Rewards program and student attendance efforts.
  • Help develop and implement marketing plans designed to increase attendance and enhance the fan experience.
  • Create game scripts, run-of-show documents, and event timelines.
  • Brainstorm and develop creative content, promotional concepts, and fan engagement features.
  • Collaborate with athletics staff, student groups, spirit squads, and campus partners to promote events and drive attendance.

Position Compensation: $13.00 Hourly.

Undergrad student wage position for less than 20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:
  • Resume and Cover Letter required.
  • Full-time student currently enrolled at the University of Virginia (graduate and undergraduate).
  • Availability to attend all home football games and select competitions for other sports, which are frequently scheduled during evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to represent the University of Virginia and UVA Athletics in a positive, professional, and customer-service-oriented manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and adapt in a fast-paced live event environment.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in sports marketing, fan engagement, event management, or collegiate athletics.
  • Previous experience in customer service, event operations, marketing, promotions, or athletics.
  • Creative mindset with a willingness to contribute new ideas for fan engagement and game presentation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current fan engagement trends.
Physical Demands:

Event preparation and operations may require occasional light physical labor. This includes carrying supplies to, from, and throughout athletic venues. Interns may be required to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods, including up to four hours at a time during athletic events. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
