Role Purpose: A Senior Project Engineer will lead large engineering projects to develop mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:



  • Lead large engineering projects and give daily technical direction to engineers.

  • Support Manufacturing Engineering in the industrialization of new products.

  • Analyzes complex engineering problems and offer effective solutions to satisfy customer specifications and expectations.

  • Estimates cost and timing for large projects, including preparing business cases and recommendations to Sales for quotations.

  • Investigates and analyzes new materials, equipment, and engineering practices.

  • Understands industry regulations and prepares technical reports and industry documents in response to new or changing regulations.

  • Attends and presents at international tech committees Recognized as a technical expert in the field outside of the company.

  • Contributes to technical reports in industry publications.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Other Significant Role Requirements:



  • Successful experience leading engineering R&D efforts.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of an international team.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.


Physical Demands:



  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting at a desk for prolonged periods.

  • Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Occasional light work that includes moving objects up to 30 pounds individually.

  • Occasionally operating machinery and/or power tools.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.


Travel: Up to 20% travel, including international.


Supervision: No direct reports, however mentoring during day-to-day interaction with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service teams is expected.


Customer Focus: This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the company’s future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. External contacts are key to the effective execution of the objectives of the company. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, emotional and sensitive issues. Success in this area is vital for the development of the existing and future business.



  • Mechanical assembly and experience with both standard shop tools and electrical diagnostic equipment.

  • Strong root cause analysis experience with complex systems.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Language/Communication Skills


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Analytical Ability


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Education and/or Experience:


Required:


Preferred:



  • 8+ years of experience in the field of engineering.

  • Experience with software coding for mechatronics controls and robotics strongly.

  • PLM and CAD system skills (Fusion/ Inventor).

  • German or Chinese language skills.

  • 3D printing experience.
