Job Title: Weld Technician

Location: Springfield, OH

Shift: 6:00PM-2:30AM


Job Summary

The Robotic Weld Tech Maintenance position is responsible for ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of robotic weld machines and related equipment. This role involves maintaining safety standards, diagnosing equipment failures, and assisting with weld quality and jig tuning. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing various maintenance tools and adhering to safety protocols.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot assembly welding problems.
  • Perform any repair or maintenance of assembly welding equipment as needed.
  • Perform and maintain setting up of new equipment (programming robots, new checks, assembly fixture tuning and setting up of welding conditions).
  • Maintain assembly part quality.
  • Create and maintain welding conditions (welding control tables).
  • Perform and maintain annual checks on welding equipment (performance checks).
  • Perform and maintain quarterly preventive maintenance on assembly equipment (robots, stationary welders, and jigs).
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding in Welding Technician skill areas: Robotics, Electrical, Resistance Welding, Mag/Mig Welding, Jig Tuning and Fabrication.
  • Respond to equipment breaks in such a manner as to minimize assembly downtime.
  • Complete corrective work orders in a timely manner.
  • Devise Kaizen activities to increase productivity, decrease costs and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate’s Degree in Robotics, Welding Technology, or Industrial Maintenance is highly preferred.  

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically focused on robotic welding (Fanuc, Motoman, or ABB).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Robot Programming (teaching points, adjusting paths, and troubleshooting "teach pendant" errors).  
  • Strong knowledge of Resistance (Spot) Welding and MIG/MAG Welding processes.  
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi) is a major plus.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 35–50 lbs, and work the 6 PM–2:30 AM shift with potential overtime.
