Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Create, modify and maintain programs for machines, robotics, 3rd party integration, and complete systems.
  • Assist Checkout Technicians with factory testing
  • Create documentation to share knowledge with other Controls Engineers as well as Checkout and Service Technicians
  • Review and troubleshoot customer field issues and recommend viable solutions for quick resolution.
  • Work on projects to improve speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operation
  • Assist Service Department in troubleshooting machines, either in the field via telephone or on-site at the customer's facility
  • Ensure that programs follow a standardized and structured format and notation for ease of understanding by co-workers and customers.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (or Related Field) or two-year degree in Engineering (or equivalent and 3 years of related experience in the field of automation and robotics)
  • Familiarity with motion control, servo controls, HMI, and packaging equipment
  • AB PLC experience preferred
  • Fanuc Robot experience preferred
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred
  • 3D modeling experience preferred

Technical Skills and Abilities
  • Able to read, understand, analyze and problem solve electrical schematics and engineering related software programs.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to tutor and/or lead others on designs and projects.
  • Must exhibit a high level of inquisitiveness, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.

Physical Requirements
  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods of time that often include extensive time on a computer.
  • Stand and walk for a portion of the day to interact with other employees.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading engineering schematics, spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, bend, hold, reach, carry, push and pull packages, supplies, and the like used by the Engineering Department and to support the production floor.

Work Environment
  • Seventy to eighty percent (70-80%) of the work is performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer, or working at an office table.
  • Twenty to thirty percent (20-30%) of the work is performed on an assembly floor or at customer sites with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.
  • The estimated amount of time spent traveling to customer sites is ten percent (10%).

Tools and Equipment
  • Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment.
  • Use basic hand tools including as wrenches, pliers, screwdriver, voltmeter, etc.

Salary Range
  • The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000 per year. At Delkor, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their experience, performance, and skills relevant to their current role. This salary range accounts for various factors considered in the hiring process, including but not limited to education, skills, work experience, and certifications. As a result, the final salary offer for the selected candidate(s) may fall anywhere within this range.
  • Controls Engineer I is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
