Job Description

IAT Insurance Group has an opening for a Business Analyst Internship within our IT Business Unit in our Omaha, Nebraska; Kansas City, Missouri; or Milwaukee, Wisconsin office locations for the summer of 2027. In this role, you will partner with business and technology teams to analyze business processes, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, and explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and digital solutions can enhance business outcomes. You will gain experience gathering requirements, documenting workflows, evaluating process improvement opportunities, and assisting with the design and testing of AI-powered solutions, including copilots and intelligent agents. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop business analysis, process improvement, and emerging technology skills while contributing to meaningful initiatives that support IAT's digital transformation efforts.

The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with IT stakeholders to analyze current processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for optimization.
  • Recommend opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation solutions to streamline processes.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to leadership and project teams.
  • Prototype and implement AI solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and related technologies.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • Must be able to work out of our Omaha or Kansas City or Milwaukee office without housing assistance or relocation assistance from IAT Insurance Group.
  • Must be able to complete the entirety of the 10-week internship program (May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027)
  • Rising Undergraduate Senior majoring in Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Coursework or project experience involving AI, process improvement, or automation.
  • Experience designing, building, or testing chatbots, virtual assistants, or AI agents.
  • To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.

Preferred to Have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio.
  • Basic knowledge of APIs and integrations
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies, user story development, or requirements gathering.
