How to get an internship at a FAANG company?

To secure an internship at a FAANG company, candidates should have strong technical skills in areas like coding, algorithms, and data structures, often demonstrated through projects or competitive programming. Applying through official internship programs, maintaining a high GPA, and preparing for technical interviews with practice on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank are essential steps.

What are FAANG internships?

FAANG internships refer to internship programs offered by the five major technology companies: Facebook (Meta), Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google. These internships typically involve working on real projects, require strong technical skills, and are highly competitive, often lasting 10-12 weeks during the summer. They provide valuable industry experience and can serve as a pathway to full-time employment.

What is an Internship at a FAANG company?

An internship at a FAANG company refers to a temporary, often summer-long, work placement at one of the top tech companies: Facebook (Meta), Apple, Amazon, Netflix, or Google. These internships give students or recent graduates the chance to work on real projects, gain industry experience, and learn from top professionals in the field. Interns are usually paid, and the experience can significantly boost a resume and lead to full-time job offers after graduation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern at a FAANG company, and why are they important?

To thrive as a FAANG intern, you generally need strong computer science fundamentals, coding proficiency (often in languages like Python, Java, or C++), and relevant coursework or project experience. Familiarity with technical tools such as Git, cloud platforms, and version control systems, as well as knowledge of data structures and algorithms, is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective communication are vital soft skills that set candidates apart. These skills and qualifications are crucial for quickly contributing to complex projects, collaborating within dynamic teams, and succeeding in the highly competitive FAANG environment.

What are some common challenges faced during a FAANG internship, and how can I overcome them?

FAANG internships are fast-paced and can be challenging due to high expectations, steep learning curves, and collaboration with talented peers. Interns often need to quickly adapt to new technologies and company-specific workflows, while balancing project deadlines. To overcome these challenges, proactively seek feedback, ask questions when unclear, and make use of mentorship or onboarding resources. Regular communication with your team and setting realistic goals can help you stay on track and make the most of your experience.

What is the easiest FAANG to get into?

FAANG companies (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) are highly competitive, but some candidates find roles at Amazon or Facebook relatively more accessible due to their larger number of entry-level and internship positions. Success often depends on strong technical skills, relevant projects, and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, which are essential for all FAANG interviews.

Job description

Reducto is the agentic document platform for leading AI teams who demand enterprise performance at scale. We provide a comprehensive toolkit for working with documents the way a human would, combining custom in-house and leading frontier models to power efficient and accurate document workflows.
We've grown rapidly, increasing revenue 8x year over year and partnering with hundreds of companies, from leading AI teams like Harvey, Vanta, and Scale, to enterprise customers across FAANG and top trading firms.
Reducto has raised over $100M from world-class investors including a16z, Benchmark, and First Round Capital.
The Opportunity
As Technical Sourcer, you'll be on the front lines of building the engineering and ML teams that power Reducto's core product. You'll work closely with engineering leadership to find and engage exceptional technical talent. People who are hard to find and even harder to convince to make a move. This is a great role for someone early in their recruiting career who wants to develop deep sourcing craft, learn what great technical hiring looks like.
What You'll Do:
  • Build high-quality pipelines of passive technical candidates across engineering, ML, and infrastructure roles through LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, and other sourcing channels
  • Write compelling, personalized outreach that cuts through the noise and earns responses from candidates who get flooded with recruiter messages
  • Conduct initial outreach and introductory screens to assess interest, availability, and baseline fit before passing to the full-cycle recruiter
  • Partner closely with recruiters and hiring managers to understand technical role requirements and calibrate on what strong looks like
  • Maintain clean, up-to-date pipeline data in Ashby (or similar ATS) and report on outreach performance, response rates, and top-of-funnel health
  • Continuously experiment with sourcing strategies - new channels, messaging angles, Boolean search strings - to find candidates others miss

You'll Thrive Here If You:
  • 2+ years of sourcing experience and hungry to grow fast in a high-signal environment
  • Are naturally curious and persistent. You enjoy the puzzle of finding people who aren't easy to find
  • Write clearly and compellingly, and can craft outreach that feels human, not templated
  • Are detail-oriented and organized, keeping pipelines tidy and follow-ups timely without being reminded
  • Are eager to learn the technical landscape. You don't need an engineering background, but you're genuinely interested in understanding what you're hiring for
  • Thrive in fast-moving environments where you're expected to take initiative and figure things out
  • Are familiar with LinkedIn Recruiter, Ashby, Gem, or similar tools
  • Have sourced or recruited for technical roles, even in an agency, RPO, or internship context

Bonus points if you:
  • Have experimented with Boolean search, GitHub sourcing, or other non-LinkedIn sourcing techniques
  • Have a genuine interest in AI, ML, or developer tooling - you follow the space and know the key players

Why Reducto
  • Impact: The candidates you find become the engineers who build products that the world's best AI companies depend on
  • Speed: We move fast, ship often, and iterate in days, not months
  • Learning: Develop your sourcing craft alongside world-class recruiters, engineers, and founders who care deeply about talent and precision

Benefits
  • Unlimited PTO, because great work requires recharging.
  • Daily Lunch, enjoy free lunch with teammates in the office.
  • Commuter Reimbursement, we'll cover your transportation costs.
  • Comprehensive Insurance, medical, dental, and vision.
  • Health and Wellness Budget, up to $150 per month for wellness spending such as gym memberships or fitness classes.
  • Parental Leave, flexible scheduling that works for you and your family.

This is an in-person role based in our San Francisco office. We're an early-stage company, we move fast and work hard. Please apply only if that excites you.
Equal Opportunity
Reducto is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to sex, race, color, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or any other protected category.
