What you'll do
AlixPartners, a leading global consulting firm, is seeking Summer Analysts to support our eDiscovery & Digital Forensics team, part of our Risk Advisory service line.
Companies today are generating and storing vast amounts of data. To resolve litigation and investigation-related challenges, they need the right technology and a sensible strategy from a data-oriented partner to execute an efficient, defensible, and comprehensive plan for data collection and analysis. They need to know what the data means to resolve what happened and comply with legal and regulatory demands. Our teams of discovery and litigation analytics experts have extensive experience with data collection and preservation, data forensics, processing, early case assessment, hosted and managed review, custom data analytics, and technology-assisted review. Our production and project management support capabilities, along with our expert analysis and testimony, produce sharp insights and credible results in urgent situations.
You'll be part of the Risk Advisory internship program supporting our eDiscovery & Data Forensics team. Our interns apply data analysis knowledge and experience to assist our clients and address their critical issues.
Examples of work within our eDiscovery practice include:
  • Establish and implement protocols for the eDiscovery life cycle, which include internal standards and best practices for preservation and collection of electronic evidence
  • Find, compile, organize, categorize, and verify case-critical data across the full life cycle of the eDiscovery process - preservation, collection, processing, review and production
  • Utilize a range of industry standard software tools to perform custom solutions to specified requirements
  • Advise clients on large-scale litigation matters or regulatory inquiries, including document retention and chain-of-custody procedures
  • Create and manage large data sets and ensure electronic files are easily accessible for interrogation across a broad range of use cases

What you'll need
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong academic performance (e.g., cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher preferred)
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance analysis, insight generation, and execution, with an understanding of when human judgment, validation, and discretion are essential
  • Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling and data analysis)
  • Experience with any of the following products or tools is viewed favorably: Relativity, Reveal, Brainspace, Cellebrite, Everlaw, Alteryx, Microsoft Purview eDiscovery, or other eDiscovery, data forensics, analytics or data-management platforms
  • Preferred relevant experience includes internship, research, or project work involving data analysis/data science and building or supporting data systems (e.g., databases, pipelines, or data organization), ideally in eDiscovery/data forensics, data systems management, or professional services industries
  • Demonstrated sustained commitment and accountability in team settings (e.g., leadership roles, employment during school, athletics, research, or community commitments), indicating reliability, teamwork, and deadline management.
  • Experience working in team-based, collaborative or client-facing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients and senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings
  • Demonstrated experience applying analytical problem solving to complex or ambiguous problems (e.g., analyzing data, developing models, and synthesizing findings to support recommendations)

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or non-MBA master's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028, with ability to participate in our internship program from June 2027 to August 2027
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program emphasizing analytical problem-solving and professional communication, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related field
  • Have basic knowledge of computer hardware, networking methodologies, and cloud/file storage architecture
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (e.g., ability to use formulas, data analysis tools, and create structured presentations)
  • Professional proficiency in English in written and verbal formats required to support client communications and deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience performing analytical or quantitative work (e.g., coursework, internships, research or projects)
  • Ability to travel up to 100% Monday through Friday as required
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule with regular in-person presence in our New York office and be able to commute to the office as required
  • Willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours as unique projects/needs arise
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday

The hourly range for this role takes into account a number of factors and is between $40/hour - $50/hour.
