Associate Developer
FUNCTION:
The Associate Software Developer is an entry-level position within the Technology organization supporting Enterprise Data, Reporting, Analytics, and Business Intelligence initiatives. This role contributes to the design, development, testing, and support of data integrations, reporting solutions, and analytical applications that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Working under the guidance of senior developers and technical leadership, the Associate Software Developer helps build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions, including data pipelines, dashboards, and business intelligence tools. This position collaborates with business and technology teams to deliver accurate, actionable insights while supporting modern cloud-based data platforms and future AI-driven capabilities.
INTERACTION:
  • Reports to the Senior Director Data, Analytics & Reporting
  • Works closely with development teams, QA, product managers, and other cross-functional business partners.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES [Essential Functions]:
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and implementation of data integrations, reporting solutions, and analytical applications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, data transformations, and enterprise reporting processes.
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions that support business decision-making.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established development standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve technical skills and solution quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data, reporting, and application issues in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Support system testing, deployment activities, and post-release validation efforts.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Assist in ensuring data accuracy, quality, and integrity across reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Follow source control, security, governance, and compliance standards within the Technology organization.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for assigned tasks, processes, and projects.
  • Learn and support modern cloud-based data platforms, analytics technologies, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced retail technology environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Foundational understanding of software development and data management principles.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as SQL, Python, C#, or Java.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and data transformation techniques.
  • Exposure to business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data and analytics platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git or Azure DevOps.
