This position is responsible for safely and efficiently using heavy equipment moving and transporting product to designated areas within the processing facility. This role involves operating heavy equipment, including wheel loaders, container handler, rail operator and a terminal truck ensuring the smooth flow of materials to support production operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation:
  • Safely maneuver and operate various machines for tasks like, transporting unloaded materials from railcar to feed the processing center.
  • Operate container handling equipment, such as container handlers and top loaders, to move containers within the yard.
  • Operate locomotives and other rail equipment to move and position railcars within the facility.
  • Operate terminal trucks to move containers within the yard.

Rail Unload/Wheel Loader
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall condition, and perform basic inspections as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Shift Supervisor and other team members to coordinate unloading activities and material flow.
  • Monitor material flow and adjust operations to prevent bottlenecks or delays in production.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials unloaded, transported, and stockpiled.
  • Assist with general site clean-up as needed, including clearing debris and maintaining haul roads.

Container Handling
  • Operate container handling equipment, such as container handlers and top loaders, to move containers within the yard.
  • Stack and arrange containers in designated storage locations, optimizing space utilization and ensuring stability.
  • Monitor container inventory levels and report any discrepancies or issues to the Yard Supervisor.

Rail
  • Operate locomotives and other rail equipment to move and position railcars within the facility.
  • Coordinate with other personnel to ensure the safe and efficient unloading of raw materials from railcars.
  • Inspect rail equipment for defects or damage and perform routine basic inspection
  • Maintain accurate records of railcar movements, materials handled, and equipment inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and transportation providers.
  • Operate track switches and other railway infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all rail operations comply with company SOPs.

Terminal Truck
  • Arrange containers in designated storage locations, optimizing space utilization and ensuring stability.
  • Use barcode scanning systems to accurately identify, track, and record container movements, including receiving, storing, and shipping.
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall condition, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Yard Supervisor and other team members to coordinate container handling activities and ensure efficient yard operations.
  • Monitor container inventory levels and report any discrepancies or issues to the Yard Supervisor.
  • Assist with general yard organization and clean-up as needed.

Maintenance: Perform daily inspections, lubricate ,clean, refuel or recharge, conduct minor repairs, report major issues to supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, such as wheel loaders, in an industrial setting
  • Obtain any required certifications for equipment operation (e.g., MSHA).
  • Strong knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to heavy equipment operation, material handling, and railcar unloading.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to perform pre-shift equipment checks and basic maintenance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Acquire and retain all necessary safety certifications

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment preferred

  • Maintain clear communication with the Yard Supervisor and other team members to coordinate container handling activities and ensure efficient yard operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations related to rail operations, including switching, coupling, and uncoupling railcars.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response drills.

Cambria's starting hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $30.75. Hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hires for the position. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training.
