Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Electrical/Design Engineer - Outdoor at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing moderately complex electronic circuits, equipment, systems, and products.
Essential Functions
  • Proficiently use troubleshooting and general EE tools (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, schematic design and PCB layout programs, etc.)
  • May perform as a technical leader or Project Engineer for small projects or sub projects as part of a greater project, following established procedures
  • Design test boards and circuit modifications to test design improvements
  • Source and analyze appropriate components to meet electrical engineering design needs
  • Test circuits designed by other engineers and document the test results
  • Find technical root cause and suggest corrective action for given problems
  • Work with the factory team to understand design impacts on manufacturability
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments and suggestions on some electrical design aspects in design reviews

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated ability with application of design standards and procedures to design and develop moderately complex analog, digital and/or RF designs including simulations, schematics, PCB layouts and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability with electrical engineering tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design impacts on manufacturability
