Description
Essential Functions
• Designs and maintains electrical systems and wire harness assemblies, including 12V and 120V systems.
• Specifies electrical components, terminations, protection devices, and installation methods to improve functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of manufactured products.
• Designs and maintains electrical schematic drawings that clearly demonstrate system function and integration of systems and sub-systems.
• Performs electrical load calculations for both 12V and 120V systems to ensure proper power distribution, circuit protection, and system reliability.
• Evaluates total electrical loads, balances loads across circuits, and verifies compatibility with power sources such as batteries, alternators, inverters, generators, and shore power.
• Analyzes, evaluates, tests, and recommends electrical components, equipment, and tools.
• Troubleshoots electrical issues and works directly with production to resolve problems during build and testing.
• Communicates engineering changes that affect electrical form, fit, or function through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
• Plans and supports electrical projects, including establishing quality expectations to reduce rework and warranty claims.
• Participates in developing and documenting electrical standards, best practices, and proven methods.
Additional Functions
• Supports prototyping activities to ensure designs are complete and assists manufacturing with implementation.
• Attends company and project meetings as required.
Experience & Knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience designing or supporting electrical systems in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, including 12V and 120V applications.
• Experience performing electrical load calculations, power distribution planning, and circuit protection sizing.
• Working knowledge of applicable electrical and safety codes and the ability to interpret and implement them in design and production environments (e.g., NEC, NFPA, OEM guidelines, and other applicable standards).
• Knowledge of electrical components, wiring methods, grounding, and power distribution systems.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Ability to perform theoretical and practical electrical calculations.
• Experience with vehicles, mobile equipment, or upfit applications is preferred.

Work Requirements
• Combination of office and production floor work, including time spent at a computer and time spent supporting builds.• May require occasional travel between facilities or customer locations.• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands and arms to handle tools and components.• Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds.• Full-time position; may require flexibility in hours and occasional Saturdays as needed.• Regular attendance is required.
