Job Description:

Summary:

The Content Creator (Student) will help produce video, written, and graphic content for the School of International Service's social media channels and website. This position reports to the SIS Director of Marketing and Communications and works under the supervision of SIS communications staff on a per-project basis, alongside a second student worker. This is a federal work-study position and requires in-person work (Monday through Thursday, between 9-5). We are especially looking for someone comfortable in front of the camera who can represent SIS and its community well.

Exact responsibilities will depend on the student's skill set and interest areas along with the priorities of the communications office.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be willing to appear on camera and help faculty, students, and staff feel at ease on camera for short-form social media video.

  • Film and edit short-form video-reels, stories, and interviews-for Instagram, LinkedIn, and other SIS channels.

  • Work with the SIS communications team and a fellow student worker to develop and execute content ideas across video, graphics, and web.

  • Draft social media copy for review by communications staff.

  • Draft and update content on the SIS website.

  • Transcribe interviews conducted by communications staff from audio to written files.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 5 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 - $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Current AU undergraduate student with a federal work study award.

  • Comfortable appearing and presenting on camera.

  • Ability to work 5 - 10 hours per week during Mon - Thurs during 9 - 5 office hours.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • We're looking for a curious, creative self-starter who enjoys meeting people and finding stories across the SIS community.

  • Editing can be done in the office; some flexibility during the day to film events and campus activity is a plus.

  • Please note you will use your own personal phone for video capture.

  • This position offers the opportunity to build a professional portfolio.
