The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full-tme Marketing & Communications Manager to work in the Coral Gables campus.

The Marketing & Communications Manager develops and maintains all marketing and communication programs and projects designed to effectively promote the programs and services of the Toppel Career Center and the overall impact of career services on University of Miami students to a variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, employers, alumni, and donors. The position oversees the development and production of all the Center's external publications and collateral materials, including social media, print, email, and web communications, and assesses the results of all marketing efforts. The Marketing & Communications Manager reports directly to the Director of Assessment & Communication and will supervise the work of student interns on the Communications Team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing and communications plans for all target markets, including key messaging, to students, alumni, faculty/staff, and employers

  • Act as "editor in chief" within the department for all internal and external communications and manage the development and production of all internal/external publications and collateral materials

  • Develop Toppel's cohesive strategies for promoting specific Toppel services and resources, including advertising messages and promotional campaigns

  • Write or edit, direct the design of, publish, and distribute marketing and communications materials

  • Ensure that all marketing materials meet the highest possible standards for editorial quality and accuracy (following the University's Identity Guidelines)

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate graphic design/video/social media interns who help to carry out marketing and communication strategy

  • Manage and direct all graphic design projects to appropriate interns; follow-up on content as needed

  • Advise Career Center staff on editorial standards and marketing guidelines to maintain and convey a consistently strong brand message

  • Manage/oversee content and serve as editor for Toppel's e-newsletter

  • Maintain familiarity with all Toppel programs and services and update all communication resources accordingly

  • Assume responsibility for promoting, updating, and responding as needed to social media

  • Develop the content of Toppel's website and monitor information to assure the website is accurate, engaging, and useful

  • Create tracking systems that evaluate the effectiveness of marketing programs, campaigns, and projects implemented by the department

  • Oversee the maintenance of essential resources and background files including subject and source files, photo files, and related information

  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets

  • Research technological developments and trends and implement findings to improve services

  • Work with internal and external vendors to address a full range of marketing trends including key message development, competitive positioning, marketing mix management, and media selection

  • Update Career Center entries in campus publications, publicize events on campus-wide web calendar, collaborate regularly with University Communications, and keep students and Career Center staff informed via electronic bulletins and weekly staff meetings

  • Coordinate and assist with special events and community outreach projects designed to increase awareness and utilization of services


General:

  • Attend weekly Toppel Career Center and communications staff meetings

  • Meet regularly with University Communications staffComplete program assessment and external benchmarking projects as assigned

  • Assist Director with management and supervision of communications interns

  • Provides support for Job & Internship Expos and other career-related eventsPerforms other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA):

Required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including copy-editing skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

  • Advanced skills with creation of visually appealing presentations using Canva, PPT, or other presentation platform

  • Ability to develop and execute marketing strategies and campaigns as well as brand content

  • Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment are crucial

  • Excellent project management skills; highly organized with the demonstrated ability to organize schedules and set priorities for successfully accomplishing complex projects within deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple departments within an organization; the ability to work effectively with a broad range of diverse constituents

  • Ability to solve problems and make appropriate decisions; work with little direct supervision

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, and other design tools

  • Experience with web-based Content Management Systems (CSMs) and social media management tools, such as Hootsuite

  • Experience leading and supervising a teamundefined

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 3-5 years of relevant experience are preferred
