Job Summary
A qualified candidate will be self-motivated and able to be productive with minimal supervision. The candidate must be willing to work on multiple parallel projects with rapidly changing priorities and provide reports and updates as needed. The position will assure the overall performance of the Optimum network relative to established standards.
Responsibilities
  • Performs selection, command line interface configuration, installation of switches, routers, optical transceivers, fiber jumpers, and fiber patch panels at various data centers and customer premises to ensure reliability and scaled expansion of the Optimum network.
  • Supports deployments of new IP services, systems, applications, and architectures by completing installation, configuration, testing, and documentation tasks.
  • Partners with change management for impact identification, network validation, MOP creation and execution of activities.
  • Facilitates communications with employees and other departments by holding or attending meetings, preparing reports, and participating on tasks forces.
  • Develops and executes detailed network designs and specifications for support of Optimum's fiber-based business services.
  • Assist in the adherence to customer master service agreements and service level agreements and goals.
  • Tests and validates functionality, management, and performance of voice, and data service activations supported by metro IP architectures.
  • Participates in a 24/7 on call support in order to restore impaired services.
  • Occasionally perform work overnight during scheduled maintenance windows.

Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience working in: IP engineering - developing, authoring, and maintaining detailed network designs - troubleshooting and diagnostics experience - demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • In depth knowledge of the following protocols and Ethernet Technologies required: TCP, UDP, OSPF, VLANs, 802.1Q (VLAN tagging), SNMP, IPv4 and IPv6 subnetting
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to use small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle, and lift objects up to 50 Lbs
  • Preferred: BS/BA degree in related discipline (i.e., Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree) and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate certification preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing within the state of current residence
