Scientist II - Reagent & Assay Development

Location: Peachtree Corners, GA (On-Site)

Pay Range: $43-$55/hr - will vary based on experience

Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)

Schedule: Flexible start/end times between 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Overview

Seeking a Scientist II to join a leading biotechnology company specializing in immunohematology and transfusion medicine products. This role will support the development, optimization, characterization, and validation of diagnostic reagents and in-vitro assays used to improve patient care worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for scientists with experience in assay development, immunology, immunohematology, immunoassays, or related laboratory research who are looking to contribute to innovative product development in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and execute laboratory experiments supporting reagent and assay development projects.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Perform studies involving antigen-antibody interactions, serologic methods, reagent characterization, and assay performance evaluation.
  • Support reagent formulation, assay optimization, stability studies, and product characterization activities.
  • Assist with verification, validation, and design transfer activities for new and existing products.
  • Investigate technical issues, troubleshoot laboratory challenges, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, protocols, technical reports, and experimental records.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Manufacturing teams to support project objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support product lifecycle activities.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • OR Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • OR PhD with applicable research experience.
  • Experience with assay development and reagent development
  • Experience conducting laboratory experiments and analyzing scientific data - must have data analysis experience
  • Strong understanding of scientific methods and experimental design.
  • Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience with immunohematology, immunology, transfusion medicine, serology, or immunoassays.
  • Experience in medical device, biotechnology, diagnostics, or regulated laboratory environments.
  • Familiarity with verification, validation, and product development processes.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ISO, GMP, or quality system requirements.
