Bennett Thrasher ("BT") has an opening for a Tax Staff. This individual will be working as part of a team and utilizing resources to add value to clients, they assists with all stages of the preparation process for tax compliance engagements.
Responsibilities:
  • Accurately and efficiently prepares partnership, S Corporation and individual tax returns and utilizes feedback to prevent from repeating errors
  • Prepares income tax projections and estimate calculations for clients
  • Conducts research, analysis, development and summarization of financial information
  • Analyzes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Maintains and organizes client files in accordance with firm standards
  • Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
  • Engages in professional communication with clients under supervision of Managers and Seniors
  • Communicates with the IRS and other state authorities in a professional manner when applicable
  • Supports Interns in professional development
  • Commits to team environment and supports firm decisions
  • Maintains open communication with management regarding the progress of completion on projects
  • Uses critical thinking to investigate client financials and fix any discrepancies
  • Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree required, Master's preferred (150 hour requirement threshold should be satisfied or a specific plan in place)
  • Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification if not already obtained
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements is required
  • Demonstrates appropriate understanding of financial reporting including Firm, FASB, GASB, AICPA accounting and auditing standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Proven time management, organizational and prioritization skills
