Be our next Junior Mechanical Drafter (Mining)!

Your work environment at EXP

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Drafter to support the design and development of mechanical systems within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will assist in the preparation of detailed drawings and layouts for mining and industrial projects, working closely with engineers and designers to deliver accurate, high-quality technical documentation.

In this role, you will be part of the Mining Team, collaborating with engineers and technical specialists on projects involving mechanical systems such as process equipment, piping, and infrastructure. You will contribute to project deliverables using 2D and 3D drafting tools while gaining exposure to real-world engineering applications.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Prepare and revise mechanical drawings (layouts, piping, equipment) 

  • Support engineers in developing design concepts and project deliverables 

  • Ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with standards 

  • Assist with 3D modeling and cross-discipline coordination

What your experience looks like

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field 

  • 0-2 years of relevant drafting or co-op/internship experience 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D, or similar drafting/design software 

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as piping, process equipment, and industrial layouts

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production

  • Ability to interpret engineering markups, sketches, and design inputs

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience or interest in mining, construction, or industrial environments is an asset

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to piping design or process systems
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools and coordination workflows
  • Field exposure in construction or industrial settings
  • Understanding of mechanical design standards and safety considerations

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.

The salary range for this role is between $45K - $50K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
