The Associate Business Analyst will support the Software Engineering Team with the translation of business needs into clear and actionable requirements. The position will have a strong focus on validating that delivered work meets defined acceptance criteria. The position will be responsible for requirements gathering, testing, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration within a technical environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in gathering and documenting business and functional requirements from stakeholders.
  • Help translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering teams, under guidance from product managers.
  • Perform testing to confirm acceptance criteria have been met, documenting results and discrepancies.
  • Support requirements-gathering sessions, meetings, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Maintain and update documentation such as process flows, functional specs, and requirement trackers.
  • Lead and support UAT (user acceptance testing) planning, execution, and defect tracking.
  • Perform basic data analysis to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Help facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support backlog grooming and Kanban board management by helping clarify scope and requirements.
  • Track action items, risks, and open questions across projects.

Essential Tasks:
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of the Software Engineering processes.
  • Assist with the documentation for ISO 9001.

Education/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Two years of Business Analyst, QA, or related support role (including internships)
  • Basic understanding of SDLC methodologies (Kanban preferred)
  • Some coding or scripting experience (e.g., through coursework, personal projects, or a bootcamp)
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar project tracking tools
  • Exposure to API concepts and technical documentation
  • Coursework or certification in business analysis (e.g., ECBA) is a plus
  • Experience with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart)
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Prior internship or coursework involving software development life cycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail for verifying requirements are met
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, QA)
  • Willingness to learn technical concepts and tools quickly
