What You Will Do:

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide computational and analytical support services to advance research objectives, including study design, data processing, advanced modeling, and interpretation of neurobehavioral data. This position is a full-time position located in Research Triangle Park, NC.

  • Conduct analyses of in vivo neurobehavioral data; independently design the analytical approaches as well as identify and solve scientific or technical problems.

  • Collaborate with the Neurobehavioral Core Laboratory and support scientists to recommend computational approaches for testing hypotheses, analyze and interpret in vivo neurobehavioral data; prepare and present the results based on scientific objectives.

  • Support to the Neurobehavioral Core Laboratory to develop custom pipelines for raw data acquisition, management, pre-processing, post-processing and interpretation.

  • Analyze large-scale neural and behavioral datasets using machine learning and statistical approaches.

  • Implement algorithms for data processing and visualization, optimizing them for performance.

  • Develop scalable analysis pipelines, reproducible workflows, and computational strategies to enhance research capabilities and scientific impact.

  • Serve as a bioinformatics expert and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including biologists, statisticians, and researchers.


What You Will Need:

  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Neuroscience, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

  • A minimum of ONE (1) year bioinformatics, computational biology, or related scientific research.

  • Proficiency in programming and analytical tools such as SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, Java, and Shell scripting.

  • Experience working with large datasets and cloud-based computing environments.

  • Strong skills in machine learning, multi-omics analysis, pipeline development, and neurobehavioral data analysis.

  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems, HPC environments, and scientific software tools.

  • Ability to design computational approaches, solve complex analytical problems, and interpret scientific data.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to research initiatives.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.

  • Machine Learning certification.

  • Experience with neurobehavioral imaging data analysis and image processing tools (e.g., ImageJ).

  • Experience developing novel statistical or computational methodologies for research applications.

  • Prior experience supporting federal research environments or scientific laboratories.

  • Experience training users and delivering workshops on bioinformatics tools and computational analysis.
