Overview 

Cypress Creek Energy is seeking ahighly motivated intern to help monitor the daily operation of a rapidly growing portfolio ofutility-scalePV plants. The SCADA Intern will join our operator team to perform continuousreal-timemonitoring and control of Solar Facility performance, energy yield, and output. Over the summer the intern will be trained in the essential knowledge and skills necessary to monitor and operateutility-scalesolar generation facilities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the SCADA team with daily system monitoring and operational support 
  • Help maintain and organize SCADA documentation, network diagrams, and system configurations 
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting from SCADA systems 
  • Assist with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of SCADA alarms, points, and dashboards 
  • Participate in system upgrades, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and IT/OT teams on assigned projects 
  • Follow cybersecurity and safety best practices related to industrial control systems 

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 
  • Basic understanding of SCADA, PLCs, automation systems, or industrial networks is a plus 
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, databases, or scripting (Python, SQL, etc.) is a plus 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Networking and firewall experience  
  • Ability to learn quickly and work well in a team environment 
  • Good communication and documentation skills 

Preferred

  • Coursework or experience in automation, control systems, or networking 
  • Interest in energy systems, microgrids, utilities, or industrial operations

Locations: The location for this role is in Durham, NC. We are on a hybrid schedule 3/week.

Duration:The intern program will ideally run for 3 months. Students who would need to return to school prior to Sep 1 are still encouraged to apply.  

Compensation: The hourly rate for our undergraduate internships is $25/hr. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
