Job description
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This position will be based out of Edmonton, AlbertaWhat You Will Be Working On
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
- Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, subcontractor quotes, and other project costs.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including organizing and compiling all relevant estimating information.
- Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids and proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimating practices.
- Support the estimating team in tracking and reporting on project bids, opportunities, and market trends.
- Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input and support on estimating-related matters.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, construction technologies, and best practices in estimating.
- You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent program
- You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
