Job description

Summary

Reporting to the Controller, this full-time salaried exempt role handles transaction posting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Financial Accountant works with limited supervision, contributes ideas for improvement, and supports the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  1. Reconcile multiple general ledger accounts accurately and timely by identifying financial discrepancies then collecting and studying account information.
  2. Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities.
  3. Ensure general ledger transactions are posted correctly and within established deadlines.
  4. Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statement and other financial reports for management, auditors, and regulators.
  5. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement and provide insights to management for decision-making.
  6. Manage treasury payment issues where applicable and support department management with cash management activities.
  7. Ensure that the organization complies with financial regulations and accounting standards.
  8. Serve as backup for other Controllership team roles as assigned.
  9. Assist with projects and other finance initiatives as needed.
  10. Collaborate and consult with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Accounting experience is preferred; strong internships, coursework, or equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including the ability to use formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis tools to support reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and account analysis.
