Reports to : Marketing and Events Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Marketing and Events Intern supports the execution of BOEC's fundraising and community events, as well as ongoing marketing and communications efforts. This is an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in nonprofit event planning and marketing operation all while contributing to a mission-driven organization in a beautiful mountain setting.
This role is ideal for a college student, recent graduate, or early-career professional who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and is excited to be part of a collaborative and purpose-filled team.
Responsibilities:
Event Support
  • Assist the Marketing and Events Coordinator with planning and preparation for major annual events hosted by BOEC.
  • Assist with other events including community engagement events, beneficiary events, and staff events.
  • Support logistics coordination including organizing materials, managing timelines, designing signage, and tracking donations or auction items.
  • Provide on-site assistance during events including setup, registration, greeting guests, and working with volunteers.
  • Help gather and organize event-related data, feedback, and photos.

Marketing Support
  • Design promotional materials, flyers, and graphic content for events and programs in Canva or InDesign.
  • Represent BOEC professionally and passionately at events, programs, and community functions.
  • Maintain and update website content with relevant stories and events.
  • Support BOEC social media presence through content capture, testimonial capture, editing, and posting.
  • Support BOEC email communications efforts through writing and editing.
  • Other projects as assigned by the Marketing and Events Coordinator.

Schedule:
  • 5 days a week, 9 AM - 5 PM at the BOEC Admin office in Breckenridge, with flexibility for activities and events.
  • May occasionally work weekends or evenings based events.

Requirements
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a valid drivers license.
  • Be willing to participate and pass a background/MVR check.
  • A strong interest in event planning, nonprofit marketing, and/or adaptive outdoor recreation.
  • Progression toward or completion of event management, marketing, communications, advertising or related degree.
  • Administrative work, events, media, and/or marketing experience preferred.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Creative thinker with strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Applied understanding of basic marketing principles, familiarity with social media platforms, basic graphic design skills.
  • Interest in outdoor recreation and comfort in outdoor settings is a must.

The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives through outdoor experiences for people with disabilities and additional needs. Since 1976, we've provided high-quality, inclusive outdoor adventures in skiing, snowboarding, rafting, cycling, climbing, and more for individuals of all abilities. With the help of a dedicated staff and 300+ volunteers, we serve over 2,500 participants annually through our Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program, Wilderness Program, and Internship Program.
