Job description

Overview

Position Overview: Responsible for assisting the Safety Managers in all job-site office related safety matters. Responsible for safety functions necessary to support Mastec Renewables at an assigned jobsite. Conduct site safety orientation, basic safety trainings, job safety analysis, workplace audits and incident responses as needed.

 
 

Location & Travel Details: You’ll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be onsite at a project location. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You’ll spend 8-12 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and present safety training to support Wanzek and client requirements, including planning, documentation, and presentation. This may include: New Hire Orientation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory, etc.
  • Provide Safety Leadership creating enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, resulting in excellent safety performance
  • May assist with inputting and reviewing incident reports
  • Assist in the execution of the jobsite safety plans
  • Exposure to and an understanding of the lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner
  • Communicate with Wanzek management regarding safety matters
  • Ensure safety documentation is complete and accurate as required by Wanzek and regulations
  • Ensure PTPs, field audits, daily equipment inspections, SOPs and safety meetings are being conducted and entered into appropriate systems for tracking
  • Develop and administer recognition systems with Safety Managers to promote safe and healthful work performance, i.e. “Good Catch”
  • Ensure sufficient supply of suitable inventory of PPE and safety equipment. Work with the Site Safety Lead to order more supplies as needed.
  • May assist with pulling safety report information and putting together safety report detail documents for Safety Managers
  • Complete drug screen collections as needed
  • Understand and implement the site-specific emergency response plan
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of construction experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Zero Injury principles
  • Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies

Working Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
