Mechanical Superintendent

Our scope of services includes new construction, renovations, fueling systems, and energy projects for a wide range of commercial and federal government clients. As a prime contractor, we execute a full range of construction disciplines. Our mechanical expertise allows us to self-perform highly technical mechanical and fuels work.


The Mechanical Superintendent supervises craft workers and serves as a liaison between Operations, Project Management, and Trades Teams to ensure that construction deliverables meet drawing and specification requirements. This role takes a lead position onsite to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with a quality level that aligns with CMS standards and client expectations.


Essential Functions
  • Plan work schedules, determine manpower, material quantities, and equipment requirements
  • Manage subcontractor activities on-site
  • Monitor performance of trades to ensure compliance with project specifications, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Lead onsite meetings; distribute schedule updates and meeting documentation
  • Complete daily documentation, including productivity reports and jobsite photos
  • Communicate potential issues and scheduling challenges to the Project Management Team; assist in resolving as needed
  • Coordinate with departments for timely delivery of materials, inspections, and equipment
  • Validate field construction against drawings and specifications using inspections and digital tools (e.g., BIM/VDC)
  • Maintain responsibility for onsite safety
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Director of Operations

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Science with at least 2 years of superintendent, foreman, or crew leader experience
  • Associate's degree in a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years of experience in similar leadership roles
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of construction disciplines, scheduling, cost control, safety, and blueprint interpretation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience using BIM/VDC software applications
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Director of Operations
  • Works under the guidance of an on-site Project Manager
  • Directly supervises subcontractors and trades team members
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, move, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. or more
  • Must be able to perform various construction tasks including working at heights, in confined spaces, and under different environmental conditions
  • Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) and coordination of hand and eye movements
  • Climbing, balancing, standing, walking over uneven ground, stooping, kneeling, and crouching as needed
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet company vehicle insurance requirements
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional local, regional, and interstate travel is required
  • Some projects may require international travel
  • All travel-related expenses will be covered or reimbursed per CMS policies
