Job description

Commercial Insurance Sales Internship — Fall 2026

Sea-Mountain Insurance | Lynnwood, WA | On-Site_ $17.50/hr | 9 hrs/week | Up to 96 hours (based on term schedule) | Start: Fall 2026 (start of your fall term est. 9/21-9/30)_

What this internship is:

Skills you’ll use for the rest of your career –

Most internship postings dress up cold calling as "strategic outreach." This one doesn't.

Cold calling is what you'll do, because it's the thing that actually teaches you how to sell. Most people who try commercial insurance sales don't make it past year three. The ones who do learn early how to get a stranger on the phone, build rapport fast, and earn enough trust that they actually want to talk to you.

That skill doesn't come from a classroom. This internship is designed to show you what that looks like, before you spend years figuring it out on your own.

What you'll do:

Work directly with Dylan Hopper -

You'll work directly under Dylan Hopper, our Director of Revenue, a commercial producer who has built an active book of business for nearly 12 years. He still sells every day.

Every day starts with 15 to 20 minutes on something specific: objection handling, how to open a call, how to listen for what someone actually needs. Then you make calls. You'll write your own cold call script, test it on real calls, figure out what doesn't work, and fix it. You'll get feedback the same day.

You'll also learn how to build a prospect list so you're not just dialing randomly.

What you’ll leave with:

  • A cold call script you built, tested, and proved yourself
  • The skill to build a prospect pipeline from scratch.
  • A 1:1 coaching session with a professional sales coach from InCite Learning Group
  • A clear picture of whether a career in commercial insurance sales is the right call for you.

Who this is for:

You're competitive. Rejection bothers you for about five minutes and then you want to try again. You're curious about sales but not sure if it's for you, and you'd rather find out now than later.

This is one seat. We're starting with one intern this fall and building from there. That means you'll actually know your mentor, you'll get real feedback, and you'll actually get time with the people you're learning from.

If it goes well:

The door stays open -

The best candidates from this program get a real conversation about what a full-time path at Sea-Mountain looks like. No vague promises, just an honest talk about whether it makes sense for both sides.
